UHF (700-800MHz)

Ultra High Frequency (UHF) is one of the fastest growing segments in the RFID Industry due its extreme versatility. This includes fast data transfers without line of sight (reading items up to 1,000 items per second); longer read ranges when compared to RFID Low & High Frequencies (facilitating up to 10 metres) and the ability to customize the chip to uniquely identify in real-time its identity to the cloud. According to the RAIN Alliance over 20 billion items have now been connected.

The adoption of UHF labels and tags are used mainly in warehousing and goods tracking whilst ISO standard cards are more popular for access control, location monitoring and attendance tracking. UHF follows the EPC Gen2 Standard (that ISO/IEC has standardized as 18000-63) operating at 860 MHz- 960 MHz. The standard has been promoted in recent years by RAIN RFID; a global alliance promoting the universal adoption of the technology.
