NFC (Near Field Communication) is a form of wireless technology that allows two devices, within a range of 1.6 inches (4 cm) apart, to communicate with each other. It is the same technology used for contactless credit and debit cards.

FESTIVAL USES FOR NFC

NFC technology means you can enjoy being at a festival without the worry of losing your cash and cards, or worse still, having them stolen.

With NFC, everything that can be purchased at a festival, like food, beer, and merchandise, for example, can be purchased via an NFC wristband.

The NFC wristband is connected to the concert goer’s ticket or digital wallet, depending on the setup, and allows them to pay easily and gain access to their account balance, perks, data, and access details.

It couldn’t be easier, and there's no queuing involved!

CASHLESS PAYMENTS

The NFC chip of each bracelet can be paired with the festival account, so visitors can pay for their purchases, much like contactless, by tapping their NFC chipped bracelet against a reader. The amount owed will then be taken from the visitor’s account.

As this technology is the same as the one used for contactless credit cards, transaction speed is fast and secure, so there is no need to carry cash or tokens.

ACCESS CONTROL

For festival organizers, NFC allows for easy access management across their event. Access can also be tailored according to each visitor’s ticket options, scanning visitors at access points or VIP areas with NFC enabled smartphones or readers. You will also be able to check if access is granted for one or more days for multi-day festivals.

The technology also allows you to import tickets sold via other platforms while using NFC technology and all of its features.

AFTER EVENT FEEDBACK

At the end of your event, and during it, you can view real-time information on where your visitors are spending their time, which are their favorite activities, and crucially, where they choose to spend their money. This can be very useful for deciding what to lay on at future events.

NFC technology is linked to real-time data, like how many visitors are in attendance, which areas have the highest footfall, and the spend per head.

BENEFITS OF NFC:

- Increased customer satisfaction

This is a no brainer. As festival-goers will hardly have to queue, they will be in a better mood and enjoy the festival more.

- Higher individual spend

With such a smooth way to quickly pay for things, there will be increased transactions per head as visitors will be more receptive to products for sale.

- Better security and reduced crime

NFC technology allows for secure cashless payments linked securely to each visitor.

- Reduced staff costs at the event

Fewer staff requirements in queue/security control and payment processing.

NFC at festivals is the future!
