Durable Composite Cards
Composite cards (a combination of both PVC and PET material) are ideal for card applications where warping is an issue or you need a card more durable under heat. PET (Oriented Polyester) has very high heat resistance, tear strength and impact strength but is mixed with an outer layer of PVC so that the card be personalised with a card printer.
Composite cards have the following advantages over standard PVC cards:
• Greater durability and longer card service life than PVC cards, resulting in fewer card replacements over time.
• Less susceptible to cracks or tears from bending/handling.
• Composite material is ideal for Reverse Transfer printing and Photo ID patch lamination because the card stays flatter than PVC cards and will become less brittle than PVC under heat.
