Dual Interface/ Combi Cards
JavaCard OpenPlatform
A dual interface / combi card is a microprocessor card which also has a contactless interface. Unlike a hybrid/twin card (which has two separate chips) the dual interface/ combi card is a single chip consisting of both interfaces.
Within the transport market for instance money can be loaded securely using the contact interface, and when customers need to use them on buses use the simpler contactless interface. These products are targeted at banking, transport markets and other areas that need larger memory than a standard contactless card, high security and dual interfaces such as Citizen Cards.

JCOP
JCOP is the leading Java Card component of an extended set of smart card operating system technologies developed by IBM Software Group in association with IBM Research. It has since now moved to NXP (Philips). A large advantage of using JavaCard is the easy way to implement your own applets.
The JCOP platform comes in different memory sizes and can have different Mifare emulations with Mifare 1k or Mifare 4k.
With the obsolescence of the JCOP30 platform there are now two key products the JCOP31 and the JCOP41.
For the Transport industry Universal Smart Cards can supply ITSO accredited cards based on the JCOP31 or JCOP41.
JCOP31
JCOP31 is the entry platform and is available with 36kb or 72kB EEPROM memory. It also comes with Mifare 1k or Mifare 4k emulation (not both)

JCOP41
JCOP41 like JCOP31 has a dual interface but also has USB support. It comes with 72kB memory and can emulate Mifare 4k only.
